To Whom It May Concern: Oh, You Know You Are!

I write this ditty to whom it may concern

Just because it seems you don’t give a dern

My words fly around your head like a boomerang

Circling round and round never staying

Returned to sender each-and-every time

A sistah is getting just a lil’ tired

No mo’ pleading for you to do what’s right

No mo’ chances and no mo’ wasted time

I gave away the best parts of me like an old rag

Now I am ass out and honestly-- you were just a drag

Like a drag of a nasty cigarette, and I am just left with the butt to kiss

“I can see clearly now the rain is gone.”

That part’s on me.

They say everyone has a reason or a season

Well, you were once my summer

hot and heavy like a mid-August night

And now, the leaves are falling,

it is cooler out, I am cooler

and your time is gone

forever more, forever more.
